Ashes to Ashes rant

It's no secret that I haven't been a big fan of Ashes to Ashes, mostly out of petty bitterness and I admit that. When it was released I went into heavy denial over the death of Sam (and in a lot of ways I still am) but I love Gene. Hell, I love Sam/Gene and anyone who knows me at all can attest to that they're my OTP. I'm completely obsessed with them and it's one fandom where I've learned to embrace fanon more than actual canon. I'm rambling I think so I'll move this along.

Tonight I finished watching Series 3, Episode 1 of Ashes to Ashes. Of which I've been very excited to see, if mainly for the Sam references. The last two series I've eaten them up like a Custard Cream but after tonight I don't want Sam ever mentioned again in that blasphemous programme (much love to the actors). At least not if this is the way they're going to handle it. They've broken Gene so much since the beginning but implying that he killed Sam?

Even forgetting my shipper heart that was shattered into a million pieces it's just not Gene. Slash aside, after seven years together it just wouldn't happen. Gene trusted and opened up to Sam more than anyone else in his life. Even after three series, he hasn't done that with Alex like he did Sam. At the least Sam was his best friend and partner. In my personal canon there was a lot more but how deep the love goes depends on your slash goggles. Either way, there was love and it just wouldn't ever happen. I'm really worried. First they take Sam from me and now they're trying to take both Sam/Gene and Gene himself from me. Mattew Graham is quickly going on my list that I don't have but I'm willing to start just for him.

I love the fact that we got more Sam references although I too refuse to believe that Gene murdered Sam as is being inferred. My theory is that Gene - rightly or wrongly, but in my mind wrongly - feels responsible for Sam's disappearance/death. I'm fairly hopeful that Gene will be vindicated, but the writers are going to make him suffer first.

Oh, and ftr, there's more chemistry between Shaz and Alex than between Gene and Alex imo. :D
