When it comes to matters of the heart it should no doubt surprise you that I'm left just as confused and bewildered as the rest of the hapless human race. Although I'm convinced this is one of those things that we're not meant to understand and some might argue that half the frustration fun is trying to decipher the complicated puzzle that we call love. It's all enough to drive a sane person mad and a mad person on top of a roof with a gun, taking hostages.
For example:
When you want to hold on to it:
Why is it customary to play games and test each other? As an adult with basic understanding in communication then surely you could find a better way of working things through. Humans are cynical bastards by nature so when something goes wrong and they have a row with their partner (see: lovers tiff) they can't focus on the reasons they love each other, instead they inevitably focus on the horrible and awful things you hate about each other. Often this is made worse because humans are blessed with selective hearing. Instead of listening to each other they hear whatever it is they need to win their respective argument because for many people, that's what matters most in the end. Well, second to pride anyway although that tends to go hand in hand with winning, I think. If you love someone you would be willing to give up everything for them, but if they loved you back they'd never ask you to.
When it ends:
As it often does, why is this seen as permission to be cruel? I can understand to a point, circumstances in which hate manifests itself from things like abuse but when you just drift apart and lose that connection? Surely if you loved that person at one time you wouldn't make your mission in life to break them in as many pieces as you think you can? You always hurt the ones you love. It's quite bollocks really and such a pitiful excuse to be spiteful, bitter and just plain cruel. If you don't want to be together any more, fine. Wish each other the best and walk the fuck away. I will never understand the burning delight in watching someone suffer merely because that person has the misfortune of being your ex.
When you want to start again:
Because you always lick your wounds and try again, though you really have to wonder why. Why it is that you'd be so masochistic to want to live through the possibility of that pain all over again? Humans are masochists by nature because everyone wants to be loved by someone. Even the ones who fool themselves that they are happy for every day of their entire lives without it, it's bollocks. Either that or they're really fucking lucky. Heartbreak tends to make you overcautious. You always fear past mistakes which makes starting again that much harder. You tend to feel like you've been chipped away so much that you can't possibly have anything left to offer anyone else. Or maybe that's just me. Yeah, I'm a coward. This fact has not escaped me and at this point I might be twittering on so much that only I understand myself. So, I'm going to end this wall of text with one more quote.
We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.
